Current State

The demand to provide waste management services has increased for municipalities as a result of rapid urban population growth, migration to urban areas and industrialisation.

City Challenges

Solid waste management challenges confronted by South African municipalities relate to operational, legislation, planning and management.

Future State

We will develop a cloud-based waste management technology that will make use of sensors placed in waste containers to measure fill levels.  The data collected by these sensors can be used to identify fill patterns, optimise driver routes and schedules; reduce operational costs such as recycle at source and cost of cleaning for illegal dumping.
