According to a CSIR report (2020), South Africa is estimated to generate domestically a total of 12.7 million tonnes of waste per annum. South African metropolitan municipalities are facing increasing pressures and challenges to provide waste management services due to the growing waste generation. Some of these challenges are lack of appropriate and efficient waste disposal technologies, inadequate capacity to handle generated waste volumes due to lack of funding and labour shortage, lack of suitable equipment and fleet problems resulting in poor waste collection services.
We provide smart waste collection services that will enable residents to experience smart clean cities. This technology will make use of sensors placed in waste containers to measure fill levels. The data collected by these sensors can be used to identify fill patterns, optimize driver routes and schedules; and reduce operational costs such as recycle at source and cost of cleaning for illegal dumping.
Our critical success factors are the following:
- Optimize collection services
- Reduce operational costs for cities.
- Transitioning waste management into data-driven collection process.
